Mazars’ Rick Chan and Dominique Tan, previously the Founding Partner of Nebis and now a Mazars Partner, led the talk on ‘Case Study of SMP (Small and Medium Practices) Merger.’ They shared a first-hand experience of the process and how the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) facilitated the deal.

Issues tackled included talent attraction and succession planning among others. The speakers discussed key issues for accounting firms with regards to ensuring that a smooth transition to a successful merger is achievable. Focus was placed on creating effective succession planning to allow small and medium practices (SMP) to flourish.

ISCA’s perceived goal for Singapore is to become a global accountancy hub, by promoting and advocating for the interests of members and accountancy in general. Assistance provided by ISCA has been key for the development of SMP’s and their continued sustainable growth and success. The seminar was held in line with ISCA’s strategic goal to support SMP development.
