Changes to the requirements for Dependant’s Pass and Long Term Visit Pass privileges for Work Pass holders

The Singapore Government carries out periodic reviews and may update the requirements for the various passes from time to time. Following the latest review, there have been changes concerning the Dependants of the Employment Pass and S Pass holders with effect from 1st September 2015.

The minimum fixed monthly salaries to qualify for the applications of the Dependants’ Passes (DP) and Long term Visit Pass (LTVP) have been increased as follows.

  • The minimum fixed monthly salary for DP (for spouse/children) will be increased to SGD 5,000 from the current SGD 4,000.
  • The minimum fixed monthly salary for LTVP will be increased to SGD 10,000 from the current SGD 8,000.

These changes will take place from 1st September 2015 and will be applicable to all new  submissions made on the date or thereafter. By “new submissions”, it refers to fresh applications for families planning to come to Singapore or for families whose main pass holder will be changing employers.

The DPs and LTVPs that have been approved or issued before 1st September 2015 and the renewal cases for which the main pass holder remains under the same employer will remain unchanged.

These changes will similarly not affect the Dependants of the Entrepass and Personalized Employment Pass as the criteria for their applications are on a different basis.

Lastly, the main pass holder needs to ensure that his/her work pass remains valid throughout the period of the stay of their Dependants and that he/she is financially stable to provide for the dependants.
